The boating season has officially ended....

On Monday afternoon we took the dock and lifts out of the lake with a lot of help from the 81-year old neighbor and his bobcat. I didn't have to help too much with that, but did have to help winch the pontoon lift in with the ATV. Backing up has never been one of my strong suits, so when I was having trouble getting up the hill and Maurice said "just go faster", I did and then managed to back right into the tree by the beach area. Words were said and I was relieved of that duty, even though there was no damage to the ATV.

So as you can see the beach area is empty (note the tree I hit) and the dock and pontoon lift are lined up from the barn to the kitchen window. I said we have to try and move it a little closer to the barn, as I don't like walking into the kitchen and see this big silver pontoon lift right away. At night and early morning it kind of freaks me out since you can still see with the yard light and/or a bright moon shining on it. The jet boat has been winterized and the pontoon is sitting at Willey's and should be done in the next few days. The place we took the jet boat to, said they sell a lot of the jet boats like ours. He said if we're interested in selling it in the spring, we can probably get back what we paid for it. We said we'd think about it. Since Maurice worked all summer and we didn't have a lift for it, this wasn't a good summer to really gauge if this is a good fit for us. I'm leaning towards selling it and maybe look for something more like a speed boat that we can fish from as well and definitely a paddle boat.

I started cleaning my side of the barn (I don't touch his side) so that we can get everything in there for the winter. Then we'll have to get the snowmobiles ready for the winter season. Can't wait since we bought them at the end of last winter and never got a chance to ride them, other than the test ride.

Backing into a tree isn't so bad as long as you didn't break anything. If you listen carefully to the wind somenight and think of the big red gas truck that dad had me back up, I'm sure you will hear his voice. I missed the car garage, but backed over the clothes line and proceded to drive off. Never heard the man shout that loud before. Never had to drive the gas truck again either,
